Sunita Patel

On Tuesday 14th November we had a visit from Sunita Patel. She led a Diwali assembly in Key Stage One and then went to Year 4 to do a workshop.

The Year 4 children enjoyed learning how to perform indian dances and then found out about all about Hindu Gods. It was a wonderful experience.

Harvest Festival

We celebrated our Harvest Festival on 18th October at St James' Church. The children all took part by singing some lively Harvest songs and explaining about the meaning of Harvest. It was lovely to see all the children's enthusiasm as they took part.

Hanukkah

Mr Griffiths came in to see Reception and Year 2 children to tell them all about Hanukkah. The children asked lots of questions and even sang a song in Hebrew.

Diwali Workshop

Year 4 had a wonderful time when Mrs Patel came to visit. They learnt all about Indian Culture and the festival of Diwali as well as taking part in an Indian dance workshop.

Easter Assembly

We welcomed Reverend Chris to our school for our Easter Assembly. We all enjoyed listening to the story of Easter and thinking about new life at this special time of year.

Year 6 Mosque Visit

As part of their R.E. work about Islam, Year Six went to visit Grimsby Mosque. It was a very informative visit and the children learnt many things about Islam. They also learnt how to write their names in Arabic.

Christmas Carol Service

In December we all went to St James Church to take part in our annual carol and nativity service. The children were fantastic as they read the story of Christmas and acted out the key parts. Reverend Chris led the service and helped us to think of the message behind the Christmas Story.

Jewish Visitor

Mr Griffiths our visitor from the Jewish Faith came to our school. He talked to the children all about Judaism and especially about Hannukah. The children all listened attentively and asked some thoughtful questions. They enjoyed finding out about the special foods and games played at Hannukah.

The Indian Experience

Sunita Patel visited our school in October and led an assembly for KS1 on Diwali and the festival of light. It was a fascinating experience as Sunita taught us all a special dance and explained all about Rama and Sita.

The children found out about India and some of the Hindu Gods too. Later Sunita led an Indian workshop for Year 4 to link with their topic of Diwali and Christmas. They learnt Indian dancing and also had some time to ask Sunita questions about Hinduism and India.
