EYFS Intake September 2021
We hope the images below give you and your child a flavour of what Kidgate and life in Reception is really like. Most of you will have had the opportunity for a brief 'Outdoor Tour' during our after-school transition visits, but these photos add a little bit more for you. We have tried to capture many of the areas that your children will use on a day-to-day basis.
So, whether it's knowing what equipment there is in the outdoor learning space, what the toilets look like, where we go for dinner or where we hang our coats, we hope that you find this 'mini-tour' useful.
Welcome to our special page dedicated to families of children who will be starting their learning journey in Reception year at Kidgate in September 2021. This is where you will find all the information you will need to support you and your child in the process. It will be updated regularly with key information and suggested activities to support your child's transition to Kidgate Primary Academy.
Firstly, welcome to Kidgate! We feel so excited and privileged that you have chosen us to support you with your child’s next steps in their education and learning journey. This is a really exciting, but perhaps daunting, time in both yours and your child’s life; we are here to support you all and make this transition as smooth and positive as possible.
We expect many of you will have questions and queries you will want to discuss with us. Whilst this is a bit of a challenge at this current time, there is nothing that cannot be achieved. At the bottom of this page is an enquiry form for you to use if you have any specific EYFS/Reception questions you wish to ask us.
We usually hold a welcome and information evening in the summer term so that you can meet us, learn more about the first few weeks of school, answer any questions and put your minds at ease. At this moment in time we are unable to provide an alternative date but we will consider how something similar might be achieved in the Autumn Term.
We also usually invite all of our new starters in for a taster session during the Summer Term. Due to the fact that we will not be able to offer this, we will consider if we need to provide an adapted start at the beginning of the new academic year. As soon as we have received more guidance form the government, we will be able to make plans and let you know what the start of the school year will look like.
We are conscious that children may have been out of Early Years education for a long period of time. We ask for your patience and understanding in ensuring that your child’s start is a reassuring introduction to school life.
You will have already received some hand-delivered forms from us and there will be more to follow, with some packs especially tailored and provided for the children. These should be with parents in late June / early July.
As we have been unable to make our usual transition visits to pre-school settings, please complete the All About Me booklet, included in one of your packs, so that we can get to know your child better. It would be great if you could complete this as soon as possible, attach a photo of your child being busy, maybe doing one of their favourite things. This will help us to both give a face to a name and enable us to set up a display of all our new children to help them feel welcome when they arrive. You can either post these to us, drop to the School Office or failing this send it along with your child in September.
We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you and your families. We would love to hear from you and look forward to getting photos and your All About Me forms back soon. Keep in touch and keep safe.
