On a bright and very early Wednesday morning, twelve year 3 and 4 children set off from Monks Dyke to the Meres Leisure Centre, Grantham for the Sainsburys School Games level three swimming competition.
The children understandibly were very nervous, we arrived and changed into our school games tshirt and waited for the opening ceremony. The games were opened by Ross Davenport an Olympic swimmer. The children quickly settled and focused on their races, they were swimming against the best in the county. We started well with Teo coming 2nd. The children were up against some strong competitors in the next few races Caitlin powered through the 25m breaststroke to take 3rd and Ruby swam a very impressive 50m freestyle to storm ahead in 1st place. Everyone worked so hard and tried their best especially in an environment that some are not familiar with. The children enjoyed getting Ross Davenport's autograph on anything they could get signed, followed by a great team photo. The behaviour again as always on sports events was impeccable. Thankyou to Mrs Ward for helping us and also Alan Grantham from our Schools Sports Partnership for organising and supporting, a big thankyou to the parents for getting the children to school so early.
Well done Team, a great day out was had by all!
