It is with great sadness and regret that I have to inform you, that following a short illness, our dear colleague and friend, Mrs Heidi Lee sadly and unexpectedly passed away early this morning. Many of you will know what a wonderful role she performed in school as our Pastoral Care Lead, and that she impacted positively on those families and children she worked closely with.
As a school community, we have no words to express the sorrow and utter devastation we feel and we are all deeply affected by this . I am sure that you will wish to join me and my staff in offering our condolences and sympathy to Mrs Lee’s family.
Given the timing of this very sad news, the senior leadership team felt it appropriate to go ahead with the day’s planned events, and allow Year 6 to leave on a high, and the rest of the school to deliver their surprise assembly for Mrs Wood and Mrs Kinnaird. They had been working on it for so long. We also were very well aware of the high emotions the last day of term brings in its own right. We felt it was what Mrs Lee would have wanted.
Bearing this in mind, the staff were informed a few moments ago, and we are informing you now. The children have not been informed.
You may wish to discuss this with your child yourself, over the coming days and weeks of the summer break. We think it is very important that time is taken to talk with and reassure children about what has happened – especially those very closely connected to Mrs Lee. This is likely to be a very difficult time for them, you and us and we will all need to support each other.
Because of the timing of the school holiday, we appreciate that some of you may wish to come together at this time. We will therefore open the school onTuesday 28th July between 10.00 am and 12.00 pm, where we will open a Book of Condolences, for you to write your thoughts.
On our return to school, we will remember, reflect and celebrate Mrs Lee in the most appropriate and fitting way.
Mrs T Roberts
