The conditions for cross country couldn't have been any better than they were today. We took 96 children from years 3-6 to take part in the primary schools cross country event held at King Edwards. The year 3 and 4 girls started the race off in a very positive way considering it was very boggy under foot. Caitlin came in 2nd place out of nearly 100 runners. Next it was time for the boys to get stuck in, again setting a very high standard Daniel from year 4 came in 2nd place followed very closely by the rest of the 31 boys that we had taken.
Year 5 & 6 boys and girls had waited patiently for their race, the girls lined up at the start, the competition and route was very hard. A boggy 1600m course for the girls to negotiate, we also had a few shoes stuck literally in the mud. The girls performed very well coming 2nd overall for the team event. The boys race raring and ready to start, Lucas focused as the whistle blew set off extremely well, chasing the hare which happened to be his older brother Jevon, he was way ahead of all the runners finishing a very impressive 1st place. Freddie next came in followed by Greg and Tom, The year 5 & 6 boys came 2nd over all. It was a fantastic afternoon, great team spirit was shown by all, the behaviour of the children was impeccable and a pleasure to see them compete. Thankyou to all of the adults that helped today, I certainly couldn't have done it without you.
Well done to all of the runners that competed today.
